Plastic cups: choose food grade plastic
Plastic cups have a variety of shapes, bright colors, and are not afraid of being beaten. Loved by many, great for outdoor users and office workers. Generally speaking, the bottom of the plastic cup has a mark, which is the number on the small triangle. The common one is “05”, which means that the material of the cup is PP (polypropylene). The cup made of PP has good heat resistance, and the melting point is 170℃~172℃. The chemical properties are also relatively stable. In addition to being corroded by concentrated sulfuric acid and concentrated nitric acid, it is relatively stable to other chemical reagents.
But the problem with ordinary plastic cups is widespread. Plastic is a polymer chemical material. When hot water or boiling water is filled in a plastic cup, the polymer is easily precipitated and dissolved into the water. It is harmful to human health after drinking. Moreover, the internal microstructure of plastic has many pores. There is dirt hidden in it, and if it is not cleaned properly, bacteria will breed. Therefore, the choice of plastic cups is very important for the choice of plastic materials. Be sure to choose food-grade plastics that meet national standards. That is PP material.
The commonly used materials for plastic water cups are space glass and AS plastic. Space glass, also known as PC engineering plastics, is a widely used material around the world. The main ingredient is polycarbonate. This material is lightweight and durable. Has excellent insulation, elongation, dimensional stability, chemical resistance. As well as higher strength, heat and cold resistance. It also has the advantages of self-extinguishing, flame retardant, non-toxic and colorable. The disadvantage is that compared with metal, the hardness is insufficient, and the appearance is easier to be scratched.
